Description
The San Mateo County Sheriffs Office is seeking an experienced and collaborative strategic financial leader to serve as a Management Analyst within the Fiscal Bureau. Reporting to the Financial Services Manager II, this position plans, organizes, supervises, and coordinates professional fiscal operations in support of one of the Countys largest public safety agencies.
The Management Analyst is responsible for managing one or more functional areas within the Fiscal Bureau, which may include budget development and administration, accounting and financial reporting, financial analysis, contract and fiscal monitoring, grants administration, internal controls, management analysis, research, program evaluation, and other related fiscal operations. Specific assignments are based on organizational needs and may evolve over time.
This position provides strategic financial guidance to Sheriffs Office leadership, oversees the work of supervisory, professional, technical, and administrative fiscal staff, and ensures compliance with County policies, governmental accounting standards, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The incumbent will collaborate with Sheriffs Office divisions, County departments, and external partners to support sound fiscal stewardship, organizational excellence, and continuous process improvement.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with strong governmental finance experience in budgeting, accounting, or a combination of both. They possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, and have a demonstrated ability to develop staff, manage complex financial operations, and build collaborative relationships across the organization.

Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be at least three years of professional administrative experience for the Management Analyst level.
