Description:
A mammography tech is responsible for the operation of dedicated mammography equipment to perform radiologic procedures. Typical duties include operating equipment, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, assisting physicians/radiologists with breast localizations and procedures, and administering radiographic opaque media.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains high standard of technical skills in modality by: Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic studies.
Performs mammograms to ACR standards.
Appropriate views for exam as per radiologist/department protocol
Ability to perform acceptable alternatives when patient condition requires them
Ability to physically assist patients to obtain high quality mammogram.
Applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis
Assists physicians/radiologists with specialized procedures
Maintains working knowledge of mammography equipment.
Completes exam paperwork, coding for billing, patient data for tracking, patient history.
Responds to information requests from patients, scheduling, or other departments.
This position may require you to work in a hospital, urgent care, or clinical setting.
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, (M) Mammography preferred
Licensed technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
Vaccinated for Influenza, seasonal
