JOB SUMMARY: Sycamores provides a spectrum of equitable mental health services through various programs to multicultural populations of all acuities. Although it serves a variety of consumers, the agency focuses primarily on providing care to low-income, high at- risk youth.

The role of the Maintenance worker is to assist in the maintenance of clean, safe operations throughout the buildings, furnishings, equipment, and vehicles so the agency can meet its programmatic and treatment objectives.

Starting Pay Range:

$21 - $25 per hour (starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:(These are the essential job functions for this position. The essential functions of this job include but may not be limited to those listed in this job description.   • Repairs and maintains the Agency facilities as required. Repairs all damage to buildings and furnishings in a timely manner, including maintains and repairs doors, locks, windows, screens, flooring, and furniture.
  • Perform minor electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs as needed.
  • Regularly uses roto-rooter machine to ensure that all sewer lines are clear.
  • Paints as assigned.
  • Services, repairs and maintains all equipment, including furnaces, kitchen equipment, and laundry machines, where possible.
  • Assists in maintaining current inventory of all shop tools; reports damaged, worn, or unsafe tools to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Proactively looks for any maintenance problems or emergency situations and reports them to the Maintenance Supervisor for planning and resolution as they emerge.
  • Make purchases assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, moves supplies into buildings and/or storage areas as needed.
  • Attend general staff meetings as requested.
  • Responsible for rotating on-call phone to take care of El Nido emergencies as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED preferred AND/OR at least 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Maintains all required licenses and certifications.
  • As this position requires the driving of company vehicles as part of regular duties, driving is considered essential function of this position. Candidate qualifications therefore include:
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Acceptable driving record as determined Agency policy.
  • Proof of auto insurance meeting minimum coverage requirements.

Additional Requirements:

  • Two (2) years maintenance experience, prior experience in institutional maintenance preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of methods, tools and equipment used in maintenance trades; general plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills/experience.
  • General understanding of physical plant management; knowledge of building regulations and codes.
  • Attention to detail; experience complying with programs which comply with all OSHA and safety related regulations.
