Nature of Work

Parks and Recreation/Cacapon Resort State Park Under the general supervision of the Capital Grounds Manager and Assistant Grounds Supervisor, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the general care of the grounds and golf course of Cacapon Resort State Park. The Maintenance Worker is one integral part of a dedicated team of staff in a welcoming environment.

General work scope includes upkeep of grounds, which includes but is not limited to planting, trimming, mowing and otherwise tending to the natural areas of Cacapon Resort State Park. General work also includes use and repair of common grounds tools, such as chainsaws, leaf blowers, weed whackers, lawn mowers, and other ground tools. General work may include limited mechanical, building and electrical work as it pertains to grounds maintenance. Examples include but are not limited to repair and upkeep of grounds facilities, irrigation systems, and lawn vehicles.

General work may also include other responsibilities assigned by supervisor, such as assisting other park maintenance departments in lodge and cabin upkeep and repair. Examples of related work include but are not limited to the repair and upkeep of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, electrical and lighting systems and light masonry.

Employee will be required to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and all environments. Must possess good verbal and written communications skills, interact with park visitors in a courteous and professional manner, and maintain efficient working relationships with other staff members. Must be knowledgeable of and comply with all Division of Personnel and State Park policies, procedures, and regulations. Must have flexibility in work schedule; will be required to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Will be required to wear a park uniform. Must possess a valid drivers license. Performs related duties as required. Regular attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: No formal education required.

Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in housekeeping, custodial, or general labor work.
