Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician supports the Maintenance Department by maintaining an accurate, organized, and readily available inventory of maintenance parts, supplies, tools, and materials. This position combines hands-on warehouse and maintenance-support activities with significant computer-based work, including maintaining inventory records, processing parts transactions, tracking stock levels, and ensuring that all parts and related activities are accurately entered and maintained in the company''s maintenance/inventory system.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for receiving, inspecting, organizing, tracking, and issuing maintenance materials while ensuring that physical inventory accurately matches system records. The position also identifies and resolves inventory discrepancies and helps maintain an efficient parts-management process to support maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Parts & Inventory Management: Count, track, and maintain accurate inventories of maintenance parts, supplies, materials, and related items. Perform routine and cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy.
- Computerized Record Keeping: Enter, update, and maintain parts, inventory, and transaction information in the company''s computerized maintenance or inventory management system. Ensure records are complete, accurate, and current.
- Inventory Transactions: Accurately record parts received, issued, transferred, returned, or otherwise used in maintenance activities. Enter barcode scans and other inventory transactions using handheld devices, computers, or applicable software.
- Shipment & Receiving Processing: Receive, inspect, identify, and verify incoming parts, supplies, and materials against purchase orders, packing slips, manifests, or other documentation. Ensure received materials are properly entered into the system and placed in the appropriate storage location.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and investigate discrepancies between physical inventory and computerized records. Research transactions and make or coordinate appropriate corrections to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Parts Organization: Organize and maintain maintenance parts, supplies, and storage areas in a clean, orderly, and accessible manner. Properly label and identify inventory locations and materials.
- Parts Availability: Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages, unusual usage, damaged materials, or other inventory concerns to Maintenance leadership. Help ensure critical maintenance parts are available when needed.
- Maintenance Support: Provide parts, materials, supplies, and other resources needed by Maintenance personnel to complete repairs, preventive maintenance, and other department activities.
- Inventory Control: Monitor the condition and status of stored materials and identify obsolete, damaged, expired, or excess inventory for appropriate disposition.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate electronic and/or written documentation related to inventory, receiving, parts usage, and other maintenance-support activities.
- System Accuracy: Review data entered into the maintenance/inventory system for completeness and accuracy and correct errors in a timely manner.
- Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain safe, clean, and organized work and storage areas and follow applicable safety procedures, policies, and regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in maintenance, parts management, warehouse operations, inventory control, or a related field preferred.
- Basic mechanical or maintenance knowledge sufficient to identify and properly handle maintenance parts and supplies.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and effectively use inventory, maintenance management, barcode, and other business software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering and maintaining information.
- Ability to reconcile physical inventory with computerized records and investigate discrepancies.
- Ability to read and understand purchase orders, packing slips, parts information, and related documentation.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting the needs of the Maintenance Department.
- Ability to safely handle and organize parts, supplies, tools, and materials.
Physical Requirements
- The position may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and moving maintenance parts, supplies, and materials.
- The employee may work in warehouse, maintenance, production, and other facility environments and must be able to safely perform the physical requirements associated with handling and organizing maintenance materials.
- Position emphasis: While this is a Maintenance Technician position within the Maintenance Department, a significant portion of the role involves computer-based inventory and parts management.
- Accuracy in the company''s computerized system is an essential function of the position, as system records must accurately reflect the physical inventory and movement of maintenance materials.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
