The Maintenance Technician supports the safety, functionality, and overall operational readiness of company facilities and properties. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, responding to work orders, and assisting with facility improvement projects in a timely and professional manner. Maintenance Technicians help ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for clients, staff, tenants, and visitors while supporting organizational operations through teamwork, accountability, and quality workmanship.

Job Functions/Duties:

  • Respond to maintenance work orders and address them in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Document all maintenance activities, including completed work orders, repairs, and implement preventive maintenance schedules to avoid breakdowns and extend the life of facility systems and equipment.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance performed and future service needs.
  • Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Support facility renovation projects.
  • Help prepare the facility for inspections, accreditation reviews, or special events by ensuring all areas are in compliance and operational.
  • Communicate effectively with staff to coordinate maintenance activities without disrupting client care.
  • Track and manage inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Support in maintaining company fleet
  • Assists with landscaping, snow removal, and general upkeep of outdoor areas, ensuring the facility's grounds are safe and well-maintained.
  • Inspect and maintain parking areas, walkways, and facility signage for safety and functionality.
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Facilities Maintenance - Proficient understanding of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry.
  • Maintenance Tools and Equipment – Proficiency in using hand and power tools, ladders, lifts, and other maintenance-related equipment.
  • Building Codes – Familiarity with local building codes
  • Security Systems – Familiarity with basic security systems such as locks, alarms, and surveillance equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, emergency preparedness, and health regulations.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
  • Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including:
    • Confidentiality
    • Patient Rights
    • Professional Code of Ethics
    • Discrimination
    • Knowledge of airborne and blood borne pathogens(TB, HIV, AIDS, HB) and risk reduction methodologies and the use of universal precautions
  • Three or more years of general/building maintenance experience.
  • Provides personal tools and personal protective equipment is a plus (not required)
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License and Insurance with clean driving record (required)
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen (required)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associate's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred (not required)
