Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician Supervisor ensures reliable facility operations by managing select maintenance team members while providing leadership and coordination for local IT support activities. This role is accountable for staffing decisions, performance management, coaching, training, direction, and team engagement for these team members. The Supervisor also supports IT efforts through coordination and partnership. The impact of this role will be demonstrated through the leader's ability to engage and develop the team to improve system reliability and support smooth day to day operations.

As a site technical SME, the Supervisor helps establish standards, supports complex troubleshooting, and ensures effective integration between facility systems and technology. While primarily a leadership role, the position may step in to perform hands on work when operational needs require, typically in response to system issues or critical events (e.g., major equipment failure, loss of power).

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages team members through staffing decisions, performance management, coaching, training, work direction, and team engagement
  • Prioritizes, assigns, and oversees daily maintenance and IT related workflow to ensure timely completion and alignment with operational needs
  • Oversees the team's preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance, as well as mechanical repairs, on high tech automated systems, material handling equipment, and other facility equipment
  • Provides technical leadership as a site subject matter expert, contributing to standards for maintenance practices and IT support
  • Guides use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities in accordance with best practices and manufacturer guidance
  • Coordinates IT work by aligning tasks, scheduling hardware/software installations, and ensuring work supports operational priorities
  • Maintains a safe work environment by documenting and correcting potential safety issues concerning material-handling equipment or distribution center facility
  • Leads cross-functional communication to keep operations, maintenance, and IT aligned and working cohesively
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability, team performance, and service quality

Basic Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:

  • At least 5 years of maintenance experience in a facility, United States Armed Forces, distribution and/or manufacturing environment; OR

  • An Associate degree in Industrial or Maintenance Technology AND at least 3 years of maintenance experience in a facility, United States Armed Forces, distribution and/or manufacturing environment; OR

  • Completion of a recognized trade school program in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field with at least 3 years of maintenance experience in one of the above environments.

  • Technical Skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience with industrial electricity, including single phase and three phase power, motors, protective devices and/or photo sensors.

  • At least 3 years of experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) logic principles, uploading and downloading Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), System Control Software (SCSs), and scanners.

  • At least 3 years of experience with electronics such as photo sensors, remote Input/Output modules (I/Os), servo drives, variable frequency drives and scanning systems.

  • At least 3 years of experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Basic understanding of network topology concepts (e.g., IP addressing, device connectivity, and data flow) to support integration of maintenance systems and connected equipment.

  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely operate a manlift or ladder to access elevated areas for repairs.

  • Able to lift and carry parts and tools weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to perform tasks that may involve repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, and walking, with reasonable accommodation as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in indirect management of team members, includes assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members.
  • Strong background in root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
