Maintenance Technician

Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining Nine Line Apparel’s facilities, production equipment, and work areas to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Under general supervision, this position performs preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and general upkeep of building systems and production equipment. Duties may include minor plumbing, painting, carpentry, equipment maintenance, lubrication, cleaning, safety inspections, and coordinating specialized repairs or technical support.

The Maintenance Technician works closely with Production, Warehouse, Facilities, and other departments to minimize equipment downtime and maintain a safe, functional work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facility and Building Maintenance
Inspect buildings, facilities, and structures to identify maintenance needs, malfunctions, and safety concerns.
Perform minor plumbing, painting, carpentry, and general building repairs.
Maintain floors, walls, doors, fixtures, and other facility components.
Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of production areas, break rooms, hallways, stairways, parking areas, and other work areas.
Clean and organize maintenance areas, equipment, and workspaces.
Restock facility and production supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need to be reordered.
Assist with general facility and production maintenance needs as assigned.
Production Equipment Maintenance
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, general repairs, and service coordination in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and established schedules. Maintain accurate service records and coordinate maintenance around production requirements whenever possible.

Automatic Printing Presses – 6 Presses

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including greasing bearings, checking pneumatic oil levels, cleaning cooling fan filters, checking air and oil leaks, and inspecting water separator drains and air-line oilers.
Inspect safety devices and machine functions and address malfunctions promptly.
Perform general repairs, coordinate parts and technical support, and maintain equipment records and backup parts inventory.
Textile Dryers – 3 Modular Dryers

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including greasing blower bearings, cleaning cooling fan filters, and inspecting conveyor and exhaust blower belts.
Identify malfunctions and safety concerns and perform or coordinate repairs as needed.
Maintain equipment records, service logs, and appropriate replacement parts inventory.
Current equipment includes two electric dryers and one gas dryer. Future installations are expected to be gas.
Quartz Flash Cure Units – 12 Units

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and cleaning, including cooling fan filters and internal circulation fans.
Inspect equipment surfaces, bulbs, and components for buildup, wear, or malfunction.
Perform or coordinate repairs, maintain service records, and maintain necessary replacement parts.
Manual Printing Presses – 2 Presses

Perform preventive maintenance and general repairs as needed.
Inspect equipment for malfunctions and safety concerns and coordinate specialized service when necessary.
Maintenance intervals may vary based on equipment use and manufacturer recommendations.
Folding and Bagging Machinery – 2 Lines

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including lubricating moving parts and chains and inspecting air lines, belts, Teflon shields, and other components.
Investigate unusual sounds or equipment issues and address safety-device failures promptly.
Perform or coordinate repairs and maintain service records and replacement parts.
Air Compressor System

Maintain one primary and one backup compressor.
Monitor oil levels, air lines, moisture, belts, cooling surfaces, and overall operation.
Change oil and filters according to manufacturer recommendations.
Keep equipment clean and free of lint and oil buildup.
Perform or coordinate repairs and maintain service records and replacement parts.
Air Chiller

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and monitor operation, water separators, and moisture levels.
Perform or coordinate repairs as needed to help prevent production interruptions.
Embroidery Machines – 4 Machines

Support routine maintenance and repairs as training and technical capabilities are established.
Perform work only when properly trained and authorized and coordinate specialized service when necessary.
Screen Room Equipment

Assist with maintenance and repairs as responsibilities are established.
Perform work only when properly trained and authorized and coordinate specialized service when required.
Preventive Maintenance and Documentation
Follow preventive maintenance schedules and manufacturer recommendations.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, parts used, and outstanding issues.
Maintain equipment information, including equipment name, model number, and serial number.
Identify recurring problems and communicate concerns to management.
Maintain appropriate inventory of commonly used parts, supplies, and accessories.
Obtain appropriate training before performing work requiring specialized technical knowledge.
Contact manufacturers, technical support providers, and outside contractors when necessary.
Safety Responsibilities
Inspect workplace safety equipment and stations to ensure they are clean, accessible, and functioning properly.
Inspect eyewash stations and fire extinguishers and report maintenance concerns.
Maintain and restock first aid stations as needed.
Keep electrical panels, emergency exits, and exit routes accessible and free of obstruction.
Report equipment safety failures and other hazards promptly.
Ensure production equipment safety features are functioning properly.
Follow company safety policies, required procedures, and PPE requirements.
General Production Upkeep
Empty trash and maintain designated waste areas.
Keep production areas clean, organized, and free of unnecessary materials.
Clean floors, surfaces, and designated work areas.
Restock production and maintenance supplies.
Assist Production and other departments with general maintenance and facility needs as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
Previous maintenance or manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required.
Candidates do not need experience in every area listed in this job description. Nine Line Apparel is willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates dependability, mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to develop skills in plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, and general building maintenance.
Ability and willingness to safely learn and use hand and power tools.
Ability to follow equipment manuals, maintenance schedules, written instructions, and safety procedures.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, or the willingness to develop these skills through training.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow directions, prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently after appropriate training.
Willingness and ability to learn new equipment, procedures, and technical skills.
Ability to work with vendors, technical support, and internal departments as needed.
Additional training will be provided for equipment and responsibilities requiring specialized knowledge or technical skills.

This position works in a manufacturing and production environment throughout production, warehouse, maintenance, receiving, fulfillment, office, and other operational areas.

The position routinely works around machinery, mechanical equipment, compressed air systems, moving equipment, and other workplace hazards. Employees must follow safety procedures, use required PPE, and remain aware of surrounding equipment and coworkers.

The position may also work in office or indoor areas when completing documentation, ordering parts, reviewing manuals, or coordinating service.

Physical Demands
