    Title: Maintenance Technician

    Classification: Non-exempt/Hourly

    Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

    Location: St. Charles, MO (MRP)

    Position Summary

    Zoltek is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support safe, reliable, and efficient operation of carbon fiber manufacturing equipment at our Missouri Research Park facility. This position is responsible for performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems, with a primary focus on mechanical systems and industrial machinery.

    The ideal candidate has strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, experience working in a manufacturing environment, and a commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

    Essential Responsibilities

    Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and confined space entry procedures.

    Safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and around energized and rotating equipment as trained and authorized.

    Maintain a clean, safe, and organization work area, while supporting 5S and supporting continuous improvement initiatives

    Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators when necessary.

    Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial production equipment and mechanical systems, this includes confined space entries.

    Service and repair pumps, motors, drives, ovens, furnaces, bearings, gearboxes, and piping systems.

    Remove and install mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, and other mechanical components.

    Perform precision alignment of pumps and rotating equipment utilizing dial indicators and other precision measurement tools.

    Troubleshoot and repair industrial textile and knitting equipment used in the carbon fiber manufacturing process.

    Conduct equipment inspections and identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce downtime.

    Perform mechanical assembly and disassembly of production equipment.

    Fabricate, modify, and repair equipment and components as needed.

    Perform pipe fitting and support welding-related repairs when qualified.

    Assist with installation and startup of equipment and facility improvements.

    Ability to learn single and 3-phase electrical systems

    Ability to learn troubleshooting of 480v VFD controllers, overloads, contactors, circuit breakers, limit switches, conveyors, etc...

    Document maintenance activities in the CMMS system.

    Communicate effectively with production, maintenance, and leadership teams.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    High School Diploma required, related Certification.

    Associate's degree from a college or vocational training in industrial Maintenance or related field preferred

    Min. 3 years of experience in plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment

    Strong aptitude for mechanical tasks and equipment handling.

    Skilled in mechanical troubleshooting and repair.

    Structure welding (stick / SMAW welding) training and experience a plus

    Demonstrates responsibility in promoting safety, ethics, and collaboration in the workplace.

    Ability to wear a full-faced respirator (no full beards)

    Computer skills, able to use MS Word, MS Excel, Internet

    Forklift experience a plus

    Regularly works in a manufacturing environment around moving mechanical equipment and machinery.

    Frequently exposed to carbon fiber materials. Exposure may cause skin irritation, and employees are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established safety procedures.

    Occasionally required to work at heights, in elevated work areas, and in confined spaces.

    May be exposed to chemicals, fumes, dust, airborne particles, and other industrial process-related substances.

    Work is performed in a non-climate-controlled environment and may involve exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, wet conditions, extreme heat, extreme cold, and other environmental conditions typical of an industrial manufacturing facility.

    May be exposed to electrical hazards when performing maintenance activities on industrial equipment.

    Noise levels are generally moderate to high and may require the use of hearing protection in designated areas.

    Required to wear PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear, gloves, and respirators, as necessary for the task being performed.
