    Description

    Our client is seeking an experienced Plastics Maintenance Technician to support 3rd shift injection molding operations. This hands-on role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime and keep production running safely and efficiently.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines, molds, robots, and auxiliary equipment.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
    • Respond to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance calls.
    • Diagnose equipment issues and repair or replace components as needed.
    • Maintain dryers, loaders, hot runners, cooling systems, and temperature control units.
    • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and reliability improvements.
    • Document repairs, inspections, maintenance activities, and parts usage.
    • Work with production and engineering teams to improve equipment performance and uptime.

    SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

    The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. This role ensures that all machinery operates efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime to support production goals.
     
    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines, molds, robots, and related equipment.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
    • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production calls.
    • Monitor machine performance and adjust or repair components as needed.
    • Maintain detailed maintenance records and logs of repairs, inspections, and parts usage.
    • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve machine reliability and efficiency.
    • Order and manage spare parts inventory as needed.
    • Assist with installation of new equipment or upgrades to existing machinery.
    • Maintain auxiliary equipment such as dryers, loaders, hot runners, cooling towers and temperature control units.



    EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience in injection molding maintenance or a similar industrial maintenance role.
    • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
    • Familiarity with injection molding machines (e.g., Engel, Arburg, Husky, etc.) is a plus.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends, if needed.
     
    PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
    • Lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Work in noisy, fast-paced manufacturing environments.
