Maintenance Technician – Metal Fabrication & Manufacturing

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support a busy metal manufacturing and fabrication operation. This position is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who has experience working with industrial machinery, metal fabrication equipment, stamping/press equipment, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and mechanical equipment.
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently, troubleshooting equipment failures, performing preventive maintenance, and minimizing production downtime.
Candidates with experience maintaining presses, stamping equipment, punch presses, shears, forming equipment, conveyors, motors, welding equipment, or other metal fabrication machinery are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial production and manufacturing equipment.
- Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting and repairs.
- Diagnose equipment failures and identify the root cause of mechanical or electrical problems.
- Maintain and repair presses, stamping equipment, punch presses, forming machinery, conveyors, motors, and other production equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to reduce equipment downtime.
- Inspect, test, adjust, and repair machinery and production equipment.
- Troubleshoot motors, motor controls, sensors, switches, relays, starters, drives, and other electrical components.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, pumps, hoses, and fittings.
- Perform mechanical repairs involving bearings, gears, shafts, chains, belts, pulleys, and other machine components.
- Assist with installation, setup, relocation, and modification of manufacturing equipment.
- Perform basic welding, fabrication, cutting, grinding, and metal repair when needed.
- Troubleshoot and maintain production equipment used to manufacture metal door hardware, reinforcements, channels, anchors, brackets, gussets, lock boxes, and related components.
- Perform lubrication, cleaning, alignment, adjustments, and routine equipment inspections.
- Respond quickly to production equipment breakdowns and prioritize repairs based on production needs.
- Complete maintenance work orders and accurately document repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
- Work closely with production personnel to identify recurring equipment problems and recommend improvements.
- Follow OSHA, company safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and other applicable safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of hands-on industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience maintaining industrial production machinery.
- Ability to diagnose equipment problems with minimal supervision.
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Basic knowledge of motors, motor controls, sensors, relays, switches, and drives.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, electrical testing equipment, and mechanical tools.
- Ability to perform physical maintenance work, including standing, bending, lifting, climbing, and working around machinery.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

We are looking for a hands-on problem solver, not someone limited to basic facility maintenance.
The ideal candidate understands how production machinery works, can troubleshoot an electrical or mechanical failure, determine the cause of the problem, make the repair, and get the equipment safely back into production.
Experience working in a metal fabrication, stamping, pressing, or industrial manufacturing environment is a major advantage.
