What is the job: As a Maintenance Technician with Avient, you are responsible for completing maintenance assignments to build, repair and/or maintain all equipment in good operating condition as quickly and accurately as possible; while keeping associated costs to a minimum to help meet Plant goals. To be successful in this role you should be multi-skilled and able to contribute to plant maintenance activities in a variety of craft disciplines.

Qualifications
- High School diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), required
- A 4-year to 5-year traditional apprenticeship or a 2-year associate degree in electrical technology, electromechanical systems, or a related field highly preferred.
- 3+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment, highly preferred
- 3+ years of work experience with 460V electrical experience required
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or procedure manuals
- Demonstrated mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Must have the ability to use conversions, work with different units such as weight, volume, density, distance, etc.
Physical Demands
- The typical work week is Monday through Friday with occasional overtime. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl; use hands to finger, handle and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls; talk and/or hear. Occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250 pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses, safety shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate except for high noise areas. Proper personal safety equipment must be used while performing the duties of this job. All needed safety equipment is determined by plant safety guidelines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to hot or cold temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, risk of electric shock, vibration, non-hazardous chemical agents, and outside weather conditions. Employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles.
Final compensation within this range may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position. Essential Functions
Completes projects with minimal guidance showing a proactive attitude to minimizing equipment downtime and production loss.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and overhaul electrical and mechanical assemblies, including pumps, conveyors, motors, compressors, etc.
- Lay out, wire, and connect control panels, transformers, breakers, switches, and conduit systems according to technical blueprints
- Use multimeters, clamp meters, and diagnostic software to test circuits and isolate mechanical-electrical faults
- Assist with basic programmable logic controller (PLC) troubleshooting and integrated electromechanical components
- Installs new or repairs/modifies hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
- Improves reliability and minimizes downtime of all equipment. Takes a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
- Operates PIVs including forklifts and hydraulic working platforms, as needed.
- Utilize a CMMS to update status of jobs along with allocating labor and supplies
- Contributes to upkeep and updating of required paperwork such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, PM logs, etc.
- Maintains departmental housekeeping.
- Work with 3 phase 460 electrical which also includes motor controls
- Ensure compliance with NFPA70E
- Supports the vision, mission and guiding principles of the Company.
- Follows applicable safety, health and environmental rules and guidelines while performing job duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
