Little Chute Area School District is seeking a Maintenance II / HVAC Technician to join our Buildings and Grounds Team! This individual will help perform building repairs as it relates to all trades, test and maintain air conditioning, boiler and chiller systems, perform daily scheduling of HVAC and lighting, perform daily monitoring of HVAC and lighting through building automation systems, perform HVAC repairs sourcing both in-house labor and contractors, and perform routine building repairs as directed by supervisor or requested through electronic maintenance request system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
One-year vocational diploma in HVAC/R or related field, or completed an apprenticeship in HVAC/R or related field.
High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of three years satisfactory work experience in a maintenance or trades field.
Possess or be able to obtain EPA Section 608 HVAC/R refrigerant certification within 1 year of employment.
Proficient with hand tools, snowplows, and lawn equipment.
Able to read and interpret blueprints.
Able to read and comprehend technical documents used on the job and to follow written and verbal directions.
Handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and efficiently.
Valid driver's license.
Able to deal tactfully, effectively, and courteously with students, parents, staff and others encountered on the job.
Minimum composite average score of 90% on Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test and Talent Assessment Program (TAP).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The operational responsibilities of this position vary and include, but are not restricted to:
Perform building repairs as it relates to all trades..
Read blueprints with emphasis on boiler, specialty control systems (fire, HVAC, etc), electrical, and plumbing/mechanical system data.
Test air conditioning and chiller systems.
Perform daily scheduling of HVAC and lighting.
Perform daily monitoring of HVAC and lighting through building automation systems.
Perform HVAC repairs sourcing both in-house labor and contractors.
Perform routine building repairs as directed by supervisor or requested through electronic maintenance request system.
Work with other departments to install computer and AV equipment
Promptly report all major repairs needed to the immediate supervisor.
Assist with set up, take down, and cleanup for school activities and events.
Work cooperatively with other building custodians and maintenance personnel in the best interest of facility upkeep.
Assist with the prompt removal of snow from district grounds including but not limited to walkways, driveways, and parking areas.
Assist with groundskeeping work including but not limited to mowing, weeding, leaf removal and trimming shrubs as the need arises.
Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste, volatilize and toxins.
Comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding personal and property safety.
Follow department purchasing process as deemed necessary by the Director of Buildings, Grounds & Energy.
Is subject to on call rotation and expected to return call within 20 minutes and respond to facility within 1 hour
Perform any other duties as directed by the Director of Buildings, Grounds & Energy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ability to lift maximum of 50 lbs. without assistance.
Ability to work on a 12-foot step ladder and ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet using a one- or two-person lift platform, subject to applicable safety standards.
Pre-employment screenings (criminal background check and physical) are required by Wis. Stats. §118.25 for all school employees.
