Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of industrial manufacturing and fabrication equipment used in the production of commercial insulation products. This role performs mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting; conducts preventive and predictive maintenance; and supports continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment uptime and product quality.

The technician collaborates closely with production, engineering, and safety teams to minimize downtime, maintain compliance with quality and safety standards, and ensure smooth day‑to‑day plant operations.  This position will report to the Maintenance Manager.

Areas of responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production and facility equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose equipment failures and determine root causes to minimize downtime
  • Install, adjust, and calibrate machinery, tools, and components
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical/mechanical schematics
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage
  • Perform routine inspections to identify potential issues before they affect production
  • Support equipment changeovers and machine setup as needed
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, ensuring compliance with plant standards
  • Assist with inventory management for tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and recommend process enhancements
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns or urgent maintenance needs during shifts

Education, Skills, Experience, and Knowledge

  • Technical diploma or certificate in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field and or combination of relevant experience and education
  • Strong mechanical repair skills including bearings, belts, gearboxes, pumps, and rotating equipment
  • Intermediate electrical troubleshooting (motors, drives, sensors, control panels) and awareness of PLC’s and logic programming
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance practices
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and schematic drawings
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • 2–5 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, industrial, or fabrication environments
  • Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining production machinery or automation equipment
  • Experience with equipment installation, alignment, and calibration
  • Understanding of industrial safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and OSHA guidelines
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis methods and troubleshooting techniques
  • Familiarity with industrial controls, PLCs, or HMIs (basic understanding preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Effective communication skills with maintenance, production, and engineering teams
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems and equipment

Work Environment

Fabrication manufacturing/warehouse environment

Physical demands may include but are not limited to:

  • High level of walking, standing, and/or climbing
  • Stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • Work outside/inside around machinery with moving parts and vehicles
  • Exposure to loud machinery
  • Exposure to all seasons of weather, as well as slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 60lbs

Compensation Range

$20.00 - $40.00

The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
