As a team we are committed inspired and connected to make a difference in the community.  What You Will DoThe Hashawha Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Hashawha Environmental Center and Bear Branch Nature Center. Reporting to the Park Maintenance Supervisor daily tasks include operating landscaping equipment janitorial duties and various maintenance tasks. You will perform a variety of skilled trades worker and maintenance duties in the construction and improvement Hashawha Bear Branch and other county-owned facilities in accordance with applicable Federal State and local laws. The work you do will help ensure the facilities and grounds are safe and accessible for all visitors. Essential Duties
  • Operate and maintain a full range of construction and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Perform daily janitorial and cleaning services as needed. Clean grounds and facilties.
  • Apply landscaping techniques and procedures. Complete trail maintenance including limbing and bucking of trees.
  • Complete skilled construction and renovation projects of facility. Perform basic electrical carpentry concrete painting and plumbing maintenance and repairs.
  • Prepare facility for special events including erecting tents placing signs and grounds preparation. Assist with parking and other duties for events.
  • Assist with coordinated snow removal and storm damage response efforts.
  • Gather proper materials and tools in preparation for jobs. Use resources effectively.
  • Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean orderly and safe work environment.
  • Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.

  • High school diploma or general education diploma GED
  • One or more years of related experience
  • A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
  • Required Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid drivers license
  • Department of Transportation DOT physical card or must be obtained within 6 months of employment
  • CPR AED First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen certification or must obtain within 6 months of employment
  • Preferred Licenses and Certifications
  • Class A or Class B commercial drivers license
  • Pool Operator certification

  • Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
  • Must meet Carroll County Risk Management driver eligibility requirements
  • Flexible work schedule including evenings weekends and holidays.
  • On-call for weather related emergencies and facility related issues while Hashawha Environmental Center is in session. Subject to rotating on-call responsibilities.
  • May be identified as Essential Personnel during emergency situations.
  • Working Conditions
  • Frequent physical activity lifting and carrying over 50lbs climbing ladders and steps standingwalking pushingpulling bending reaching squatting stooping kneeling and related activities.
  • Frequent exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions including but not limited to chemicals noise and airborne particles.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
