LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking Building Engineers and Maintenance Technicians (Levels I, II, and III) for multiple direct hire opportunities with a well-established commercial real estate organization in the Charlotte, NC area.

These opportunities support Class A commercial office properties and offer long-term career growth within a stable and highly respected organization. We are open to candidates ranging from early-career Building Engineers looking to grow their technical skillset to senior-level maintenance professionals with extensive mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building systems experience.

Position Overview

The Building Engineer / Maintenance Technician will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation, maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance of commercial office buildings. This role will work closely with tenants, vendors, and internal operations teams to ensure building systems remain safe, efficient, and fully operational.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Support overall building operations and tenant satisfaction initiatives
  • Monitor and maintain life safety systems and general building infrastructure
  • Assist with vendor coordination and project support as needed
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedules for emergency response coverage
  • Support energy management and building automation systems
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive customer service approach when interacting with tenants

Qualifications

Level I

  • 1+ years of maintenance, facilities, HVAC, or building operations experience
  • Technical school training or trade education preferred
  • Desire to grow within commercial building operations

Level II

  • 2-5+ years of commercial facilities, maintenance, or building engineer experience
  • Experience troubleshooting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and preventative maintenance programs

Level III

  • 5+ years of commercial building operations experience
  • Strong technical expertise in one or more trades including HVAC, electrical, controls, or mechanical systems
  • Experience mentoring junior technicians and leading technical projects
  • Building automation system (BAS) experience strongly preferred

Compensation

Compensation will be determined based on overall experience, technical background, certifications, and performance throughout the interview and assessment process.
