Responsibilities

• Perform electro-mechanical maintenance in a batching and drying SQF Level 3 processing facility.
• Maintain all equipment and support systems through preventative maintenance and breakdown support, including pumps, valves, pneumatic systems, electrical devices (sensors, PLCs, VFDs), conveyors, motors, boilers, refrigeration, utilities, minor building and grounds work.
• Ensure operation of mechanical and electrical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on food processing systems, motors, conveyor systems, and production equipment; follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshoot and repair malfunctions.
• Maintain mechanical and electrical systems, including refrigeration, boilers, air systems, and wastewater systems.
• Locate sources of problems by observing equipment in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments when needed.
• Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, hand, and power tools; examine equipment for wear and damage.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments with hand tools, levels, straight edges, etc.
• Perform routine maintenance of building and grounds.
• Communicate with management on daily maintenance issues.
• Control downtime by informing production workers and managers of preventive maintenance tasks; monitor compliance.
• Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Provide maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintain technical knowledge through educational workshops, technical publications, and personal networking.
• Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs to maintain continuity among work teams.
• Ensure a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, including OSHA standards.
• Complete assigned maintenance tasks within specified timeframes.
• Follow all safety and bio-security procedures.
• Take appropriate actions to uphold the integrity of HACCP and other regulatory systems.

Requirements

• 3+ years of industrial electro-mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or processing environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across motors, sensors, conveyors, pneumatics, pumps, and valves.
• Ability to troubleshoot PLC and VFD faults (diagnostics and fault-finding; programming not required).
• Comfort with preventive maintenance (PMs) and equipment breakdown response.
• Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) and OSHA safety procedures.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Familiarity with small improvement projects and minor building/grounds maintenance.
• Electrical schematics and mechanical drawings reading skills.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand long periods, and work in a plant environment with hot, cold, and noisy conditions.
