Title: Senior Maintenance Technician
Location: Bellwood, IL
Hire Type: 3-4 Month Contract
Salary: $32-$37/hr.

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Senior Maintenance Technician to support a manufacturing facility by troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems. This person will work across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC systems while supporting preventative maintenance, breakdown analysis, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Duties:
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install pneumatic and hydraulic systems, control valves, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC electrical systems, motors, timers, transformers, and controls.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and use electrical testing equipment for diagnostics.
  • Troubleshoot and work with PLCs and PLC-based applications.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, safety checks, equipment repairs, and modifications.
  • Utilize CMMS systems to manage work orders, assets, and maintenance documentation.
  • Assist with root cause and breakdown analysis to prevent recurring equipment failures.
  • Ensure equipment guards and safety devices are operational before equipment is returned to service.
  • Complete maintenance work efficiently, safely, and within established timelines.
  • Support maintenance and repair of pumps, bearings, gears, hydraulics, valves, utilities, forklifts, and mobile equipment.
  • Perform maintenance activities in challenging environments, including confined spaces, elevated areas, and high-temperature areas.
  • Participate in TPM and Lean initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or certificate in Industrial Electrical/Electronics, Industrial Maintenance Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment or equivalent higher education.
  • 10+ years of experience with electrical and mechanical systems in an industrial environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with electronic and PLC-based applications in an industrial environment.
  • Experience using a CMMS system to manage maintenance work orders and equipment assets.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical equipment and PLCs.
  • Experience with industrial electrical wiring, power distribution, mechanics, machine operations, plumbing, HVAC, and general plant maintenance.
  • Experience with steel processing equipment, such as slitters, cut-to-length lines, and shears, strongly preferred.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing forklifts and other mobile equipment preferred.
  • Experience in TPM and Lean manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience with welding, electrical safety, rigging, alignment, bearings, pumps, gears, hydraulics, and valves preferred.
  • Ability to work safely in confined spaces, elevated areas, high temperatures, and other challenging environments.
  • Candidates must possess their own mechanical and electrical tools.
