    Job Responsibilities:

    Summary: The Maintenance Technician will support manufacturing operations by maintaining, trouble shooting and repairing all facilities and manufacturing equipment in a safe and orderly fashion as directed by the maintenance area/shift leader.

    Job Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned and required.

    • Troubleshoot and repair problems on plant facilities and production equipment of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic in nature.
    • Assist in the implementations and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, perform scheduled maintenance on facilities and production equipment as required
    • Maintain and update equipment records, schematics, blueprints and files in orderly fashion
    • Remain current on maintenance and safety requirements and other training as required
    • Complete all work in accordance with IOSHA, NEC, JIC and IDNR standards and regulations
    • Complete correspondence, forms and reports using personal computer and required software
    • Maintain department repair parts stock and inventory
    • Work in a safe, quality minded, and productive manner with a sense of urgency to achieve maintenance deadlines and to attain production priorities as scheduled
    • Attend daily pre-shift meetings and carry out assigned work loads as directed by shift/area leaders.
    • Communicate with maintenance manager and maintenance area/shift leaders, and other plant personnel about maintenance concerns, providing complete action plans and status reports as and when required
    • Work with vendors and/or contractors, displaying company values of honesty and integrity
    • Work with all shifts in design and development of improving methods and equipment through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles
    • May be required to adjust shifts as necessary
    • Follow and support Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna's operating principles
    • Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey

    Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible to help develop all maintenance apprentices and give guidance where needed.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Must have high school diploma or GED

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical systems
    • Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software
    • Must have good organizational skills
    • Ability to exhibit high integrity and honesty
    • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, equipment instructions, requirements and business correspondences and effectively present information to various groups
    • Fabrication and mechanical skills
    • Ability to obtain and maintain fork truck certification

    Physical Demands:

    • Able to lift up to 75lbs
    • Walking, bending, kneeling and standing frequently
    • Able to use the step ladder and work in elevated heights

    Environmental Conditions: General factory environment. Works around moving machinery and heavy equipment.
