1st Shift

  • 5am - 1:30pm 
  • Tuesday - Saturday

 

*Training (4 - 8 weeks)

6am - 2:30pm 

Monday - Friday

 

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Capstone Logistics Maintenance Technician Lead is responsible for the overall maintenance, reliability, and performance of facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations. This role leads the maintenance team in troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing preventive maintenance on conveyor systems, automated sortation equipment, electrical systems, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and building systems. 

The Maintenance Technician Lead provides hands-on technical expertise while directing daily maintenance activities, assigning work tasks, prioritizing repair requests, and ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. This position is accountable for auditing technician work, maintaining high-quality standards, coaching and developing team members, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. 

Additional responsibilities include managing maintenance inventory and spare parts, coordinating vendor services, maintaining maintenance records, and ensuring compliance with all safety, regulatory, and company standards. The Maintenance Technician Lead demonstrates complete ownership of the facility's maintenance operations, equipment reliability, team performance, and overall operational readiness. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills. 
  • Proven leadership experience supervising, coaching, and developing maintenance technicians and contractors. 
  • Ability to assign, prioritize, and schedule maintenance activities in a fast-paced distribution or warehouse environment. 
  • Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. 
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, and compliance requirements. 
  • Experience managing maintenance inventory, spare parts, tools, and equipment. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. 
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams. 
  • Ability to use a personal mobile device for work-related communication, documentation, and team collaboration. 
  • Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance best practices. 
  • Demonstrated accountability for equipment reliability, facility maintenance, and team performance. 

 

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Lead, assign, prioritize, and monitor daily maintenance activities and work orders. 
  • Audit completed maintenance work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance standards are met. 
  • Train, coach, and develop maintenance technicians to improve technical skills and performance. 
  • Manage maintenance inventory, spare parts, tools, and supplies to support operational readiness. 
  • Coordinate outside vendors and contractors performing maintenance services. 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime. 
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC and DC electrical equipment, including batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo-driven equipment, photoelectric devices, transducers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and encoders. 
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates. 
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace pneumatic equipment, including diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils. 
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace hydraulic equipment, including hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps. 
  • Weld equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating as defined by the scope of work. 
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on plant equipment, including conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment. 
  • Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work. 
  • Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems. 
  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts and identify repair or replacement needs. 
  • Lubricate machines, machine parts, and other equipment according to established procedures. 
  • Install, replace, or modify machine parts and attachments according to operational requirements. 
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists. 
  • Record maintenance, repair, and equipment performance information. 
  • Read work orders, equipment manuals, and specifications to determine maintenance requirements. 
  • Set up and operate equipment to verify repairs and ensure proper operation. 
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance personnel to repair, relocate, or install equipment. 
  • Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and supplies to maintain appropriate stock levels. 
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with company standards. 
  • Assume full ownership and accountability for facility maintenance operations, equipment uptime, and team performance. 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

 

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 81 pounds. 
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including concrete floors and changing temperatures. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work at varying heights for extended periods. 
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including eye and face protection and/or respirators. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment. 
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred. 
  • Experience with conveyor systems, automated sortation equipment, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and facility maintenance preferred.
