Perform advanced-level supervisory and administrative work coordinating multiple utilities field maintenance and repair crews; plans, directs, and supervises utilities operations in a designated area of the County.  Manage theReclaimcross-connection maintenance program, Hydrant flow testing, andSystempressure monitoring.  Performs employee performance evaluationsandmaintainsaccuratetimecards.

Frequent checks on fieldwork schedules, andpurchasingof equipment whilemaintainingbudget requirements,updatingthe GIS data,and any other assigned tasks or duties.

This Maintenance Supervisor position islocatedat: 6730 142nd Avenue, Largo, FL 33771.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

What Will You Do?

Supervises, trains, assigns, and evaluates the work of employees assigned to the work group

Manages the preventative maintenance program of the Utilities department.

Develop a life cycle plan and cost-effectiveness of repair versus replacement.

Examinesmeter installations

Reverse flow monitoring management in Beacon

CrossConnectionInspections

Hydrant FlowTesting

Fill out regulatory paperwork

Participateand schedule meetings online and in person

System pressure studies

Installation drawings for meters and backflows

Answersconsumer inquiries

Ensures that adequateamounts and typesof equipment and materials are available for project completion and constantlymonitorsand checks safety practices and procedures

Requisitions andmaintainsreplacement part stock for completion of repairs.

Reviews and performs contract management on contracts about maintenance and equipment

Coordinates with other agencies,departments,customers, and division units or sections to ensure proper support activities or joint projects areaccomplished.

QA/QC of the work orders and inspections completed within this group.

Locating meters as needed

Completes work-related reports and/ormaintainsoperation and maintenance logs

Research data as needed: GIS City Works Beacon SharePoint

What Will You Need?

Five (5) years of supervisory experience in public works or utilities construction, maintenance, or major repair

Valid Florida Driver's License.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Assignment to work a variety of work schedules,including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.

Sufficient physical strength and agilitytopermitwalking all day under varying weather conditions.

Other knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentialsrequiredfor a specific position.

Reclaimed waterfield site inspector certification or the ability to obtainwithin 1year of hire.

Backflow testing and repair certification, or the ability to obtain it within1 year of hire.

High school diploma or GED.

Highly Desirable

Possession and maintenance of a valid Level 3 Water Distribution System Operator Licenseor higherand a Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Backflow Prevention Assembly Testing Certification or the ability to obtain the license and certification within one year.

FDOT Temporary Traffic Control(MOT)Certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of asset management.

Ability to use an asset management system to plan and schedule work.

Knowledge of GIS and managing asset attributes within the GIS system.

Knowledge of addition and subtraction,multiplication, anddivision, and/or calculating ratios, rates, and percentages.

Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.

Ability to gather, organize, analyze, examine, or evaluate data or information and may prescribe action based on such data or information.

Ability to provide information, guidance, orassistanceto people to directlyfacilitatetask accomplishment; may give directions or assignments to helpers or assistants.

Ability to handle or use machines, tools,or equipment requiring brief instruction or experience, such as computers for data entry, fax machines, copiers, telephones, or similar equipment; may service office machines.

Ability to use power tools and various equipment,such as a backhoe.

Ability to perform skilled work involving rules/systems with almost constant problem-solving.

Ability to read technical instructions, procedures, manuals, and charts to solve practical problems; composing routine reports and specialized reports, forms, and business letters with proper format; speaking compound sentences using normal grammar and word form.

Ability to perform clerical, manual, or technical tasks prescribed by standard practices, but which may require computation, the use of several procedures, and the use of independent judgments with obvious choices; requires normal attention foraccurateresults.

Ability to guide others, requiring frequent decisions affecting co-workers and others who depend on the service or product; works in asomewhat fluidenvironment with rules and procedures but with many variations from the routine.

Knowledge of geography and street locations of the County.

Ability to make minor decisions following laws, ordinances, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.

Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

Ability to conduct research.
