    Description

    Client Overview:
Our client is a company that has been a local manufacturer, running a fast-paced, high-volume plant for over 50 years. They are currently looking to add a Maintenance Supervisor to their team. They are very people-focused and boast long-term tenure among many employees. This is a highly regulated environment, operating 24/7 with one other U.S.-based location.

    Salary/Hourly Rate:
    $100k - $115k plus Bonus

    Position Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor will coach and guide the Maintenance Technicians and work shoulder-to-shoulder with them on the plant floor. This is not a desk job. Expect to spend at least half your time out at the machines, diagnosing faults, demonstrating repair techniques, and showing technicians how to solve problems themselves. You will report to the Engineering Manager and be the day-to-day leader of the maintenance crew. Your success will be measured by how well the team performs: their skills, their confidence, their safety habits, and how reliably the equipment runs because of them. The best fit is someone who gets as much satisfaction from a Technician's first solo fix as from fixing the machine themselves.

    Responsibilities of the Maintenance Supervisor:
    • Run the Maintenance team day-to-day: assign work, set priorities, and keep everyone clear on what matters most each shift.
    • Teach on the floor and use real breakdowns as training moments, walking technicians through your reasoning rather than simply fixing the issue.
    • Build and run a cross-training plan so Technicians grow across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls work.
    • Provide regular, honest feedback, recognize strong performance, and address concerns directly and fairly.
    • Mentor newer Technicians and prepare high performers for increased responsibility.
    • Build a culture of accountability where employees take pride in completing work correctly and documenting it properly.
    • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment, including motors, drives, sensors, PLC and control systems, and pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.
    • Support the upkeep of coating, laminating, converting, web-handling, winding and unwinding, and drying equipment.
    • Respond quickly to breakdowns, establish repair plans, and work alongside the team to restore production.
    • Investigate root causes of recurring failures and implement long-term solutions.
    • Balance emergency repairs, planned maintenance, and projects against production schedules and available resources.
    • Develop and enhance preventive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime.
    • Partner with Production, Engineering, and outside contractors to plan shutdowns, repairs, and upgrades.
    • Maintain accurate work orders, equipment histories, and maintenance records within the maintenance management system.
    • Lead by example regarding OSHA and company safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout, Pre-Job Briefs, and Integrated Risk Assessments.
    • Coach Technicians to work safely at all times, especially during high-pressure equipment breakdown situations.
Required Experience/Skills for the Maintenance Supervisor:
    • Two or more years of experience supervising or leading a team, formally or as a Lead Technician.
    • Five or more years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills across motors, drives, sensors, controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
    • Proven ability to teach technical skills and explain complex problems clearly to individuals with varying levels of experience.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
    • Experience building or managing preventive maintenance programs.
    • Sound judgment and a calm, practical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills, along with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Comfortable being physically active on the production floor, including standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, working from ladders and elevated platforms, and safely using hand and power tools.
    • Flexibility to work scheduled shifts, overtime, weekends, and occasional emergency call-ins.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Maintenance Supervisor:
    • Experience within a continuous-process manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with AC/DC drives and motor control systems.
    • Experience installing power and control circuits.
    • Familiarity with combustion systems.
    • Knowledge of predictive maintenance and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
    • Hands-on experience using a CMMS.
    • Experience formally training, mentoring, or developing Technicians.
    Education Requirements:
    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Technical school coursework, an apprenticeship, or certification in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechanical disciplines is preferred.
    Benefits:
    • Client-provided benefits available, upon eligibility.
