We are currently seeking:
An Airport Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will supervise and coordinate the work of crews repairing and maintaining buildings and grounds at San Angelo Regional Airport - Mathis Field (SJT); assures compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervises and coordinates work crews repairing and maintaining airport grounds and facilities; assures compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Inspects grounds and facilities to determine maintenance needs, reviews building maintenance and repair requests, plans and prioritizes projects, and assigns staff to complete work; coordinates maintenance and repair work with contractors and City departments as needed.
- Performs job site inspections of ongoing and completed work assignments; assures timely completion of projects to minimize disruption; observes staff to assure all safety and quality standards are met; provides technical guidance to staff as required.
- Supervises and evaluates staff, and assigns tasks and projects; trains and instructs employees as required; meets with staff to review and discuss projects and work assignments; enforces all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk of accidents and enhance the safety of employees and visitors.
- Coordinates a variety of administrative activities including employee scheduling, payroll reporting, purchasing and report processing.
- Performs maintenance and repairs of City airport facilities and grounds, in compliance with applicable Federal and state regulations: works independently, and makes proper decisions using sound judgment.
- Assists in the inspection of airfield, roadways, lighting, work areas and facilities, and issues Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs) as appropriate.
- Operates equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
- Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
- Completes required daily logs and reports.
- Promptly reports emergency situations and implements response procedures.
- Conduct duties in accordance with the Airport Certification Manual, Airport Emergency Plan, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, and Airport Security Program in accordance with FAR Part 139 regulations, and TSAR 1540 & 1542 regulations.
- Coordinates FOD removal and mitigation, a grass management program including use of herbicides and shredders, hazardous wildlife mitigation.
- Responsible for general facility maintenance and repair duties including semiskilled general labor work in mopping, waxing, and stripping floors; vacuuming carpets, and general facility maintenance and repairs involving light carpentry, electrical, vehicle and machinery maintenance, and HVAC maintenance.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required with five year's facilities maintenance work experience at an airport being preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- A valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record is required.
- Must be able to successfully pass a 10-year Criminal History Records Check and Security Threat Assessment.
- Licensing and technical certifications in the building trades are preferred and may be required.
Required Knowledge of:
- City policies and procedures.
- State and Federal codes and regulations governing airport operations, facilities and safety precautions, including extensive knowledge of FAR Part 139 and TSAR Part 1540 & 1542.
- Tools, materials, equipment, techniques and procedures used in maintenance and preventive maintenance of a general aviation facility.
- Airport security and safety procedures.
- Local, state and Federal building codes and regulations.
- Electrical, plumbing and HVAC standards and maintenance techniques.
- Operation, maintenance, repair and safety standards for motorized equipment and vehicles.
- Occupational hazards and safety (OSHA) precautions and regulations.
Required Skill in:
- Identifying maintenance needs and prioritizing repair and maintenance projects.
- Supervising staff, delegating tasks and authority, and evaluating staff performance.
- Promoting and enforcing safe work practices.
- Performing a wide variety of skilled and semiskilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of airport facilities.
- Safe operation of trucks, tools and equipment according to airport operating and safety procedures.
- Operating and maintaining tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed in an outdoor and indoor environment.
- Subject to sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 82 pounds.
- Driving on active airport movement areas.
- Exposure to potentially hostile members of the public is involved.
