Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. You will be working with other staff and inmates daily.

Job Responsibilities

What you will be doing:  
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Service, clean, and repair gas fired burners, HVAC equipment, ventilation system, refrigeration equipment, freezers, compressors, and water heaters.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine inspections and perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on all HVAC equipment, ventilation system, refrigeration equipment, freezers, compressors, and water heaters.
  • Obtain quotes and advise supervisor for ordering purposes when parts are needed; assure parts are readily available when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
This job class is part of a series of competency-based class specifications created for career areas within the Labor, Trades, and Crafts Unit. The class specification identifies the levels of work and wage grades within the career area, the core and specific competencies of the career area, required work behaviors, certifications, and physical requirements. Vacancies in this job class are filled through Union referral, except for promotions, demotions, transfers, and emergency appointments.
