Salary: This is a full-time 232-day position with a minimum annual salary of $44,606.00 .

Primary Purpose:

Work independently with minimal supervision to coordinate and perform facility maintenance functions as written for daily and weekly work routines. Lead Maintenance Specialist is accountable for assigning and completion of all maintenance duties and scope of work provided by the Operations Director in a timely manner between Maintenance staff. This position is responsible for the oversight and production of day-to-day operations of the Facilities Maintenance department and is tasked with maintaining a world class customer experience for all staff members and guests while adhering to OSHA standards of safety on the job.

Required Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skills & Education/Certificates)

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; or appropriate work experience
  • Texas driver's license and insurability required
  • Motor vehicle records clearance required
  • Good employment history in management, hospitality, construction and/or building maintenance
  • Experience working independently and following directions
  • Experience in self-directed work
  • Experience with deliveries and handling materials
  • Ability to understand and communicate safety instructions
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations

Major Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
  • Coordinate and assist in the completion of the daily or weekly work activities as prescribed by the employer to ensure a program of maintenance that promotes the comfort, health, and safety of clients and staff
  • Inspect building and grounds, in a timely fashion, for needed repairs and ensure maintenance is undertaken
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment, supplies and repair parts
  • Coordinate the set up and break down of classroom and other meeting rooms
  • Initiate work activities as they occur and/or are needed
  • Complete work orders on a daily basis
  • Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including furniture
  • Assist with equipment, plumbing, and electrical
  • Move, install, assemble, and repair all furniture and equipment as needed to include, but not limited to: reconfiguring cubicles, moving desks, file cabinets, tables, chairs, hanging pictures, mirrors, bulletin board, screens, towel and soap dispensers, and other items as required
  • Install ceiling and flooring materials
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Drive company vehicle for pick-ups and delivery
  • Maintain or service the company vehicles when needed
  • Initiate work activities as they occur and/or needed
  • Coordinate with other departments, as needed, to pick up and/or deliver materials, supplies, mail, packages, etc.
  • Maintain a list and purchase paper goods, supplies, tools and other maintenance needs with the approval of the coordinator
  • Track annual inspections and permits for required facility systems
  • Maintain preventative maintenance schedules for facility systems and equipment
  • Coordinate weekly site visits to satellite campuses, perform work as needed
  • Maintain proper decorum with respect to Flag placement following proper US Flag Code and laws of the State of Texas
  • Coordinate, schedule, and perform work on Facilities Projects as needed
  • Maintain professional and courteous relationships with company vendors as well as assist with vendor coordination and management as needed
  • Provide a safe environment for all employees in the shipping area and coordinate all mail services duties with staff members as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan, and execute daily work orders received with other maintenance staff
  • Lead crew in completing task and give instruction to other staff to maximize work order completion
  • Provide feedback and assist in the evaluation of other maintenance staff
  • Review and report monthly timesheets
  • Ensure safety policy and practices are being followed daily
  • Occasionally teach or provide instruction to staff members specific to their job function or a function of the facilities maintenance team

Budget Responsibilities:

  • Work with Operations Director to review and prioritize budget related expenditures
  • Coordinate with the department Budget Manager to purchase, track, and receive approved expenditures
