Position: Maintenance Technician A, L0cation: Districtwide, Reports to: Director of Facilities, Starting Date: September 9, 2026

Wage: $35.42/hour

Performs skilled mechanical maintenance work in the installation, servicing, repair and alteration of all District systems and related equipment and facilities; performs routine servicing, maintenance and adjustment of such equipment and controls; performs general maintenance work as required.

Essential Duties:

  • Performs installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of district equipment.
  • Follows schematic diagrams.
  • Estimates and keeps records of time and material; submits requisitions as appropriate.
  • Performs related general maintenance throughout the school system.
  • Assist the Preventive Maintenance Tech when required.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in a combination of the following areas:

Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and any combination equivalent to five (5) years experience as a heating, ventilating, air conditioning electrical or plumbing mechanic.

Formal Training: Successful completion of courses given by equipment manufacturers, controls manufacturers, technical schools and training providers.

Licenses and Certificates:

Must possess a journeyman license in a building trade. (Or 6 years of experience in a specific building trade)

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Electrical license E1 or E2 preferred

Knowledge of:

  • All building systems including but not limited to electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Laws, ordinances and regulations regarding air conditioning, heating, refrigeration ventilating

electrical & plumbing equipment.

  • Energy Management control systems.
  • Computers; H.V.A.C./maintenance-related programs and other operating systems.

Ability to:

  • Diagnose defects and install, repair and maintain at least one or more of the following; heating,

ventilating, refrigeration air conditioning, electrical & plumbing equipment.

  • Interpret and work from building plans, wiring diagrams, blueprints of mechanical and electrical

structures and manufacturer's specifications.

  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Use volt ohmmeter and other test instruments effectively.
  • Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Work for prolonged periods on roofs, in ceilings and in close quarters and in adverse conditions.
  • Lead the work of others
  • Keep work records.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies.
