QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor's Degree preferred; five (5) years' mechanical experience in a wastewater treatment facility or any equivalent combination of experience, education or training directly related to the required knowledge, skills and abilities; excellent customer service and organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel), computerized work order management system, and ESRI GIS; supervisory experience is preferred which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; experience with a union environment is preferred.

    MAINTENANCE PLANNER

    DUTIES AND FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

    The incumbent in this class plans, schedules, and coordinates maintenance activities for the department's critical assets. Work is performed both in the office and in the field requiring the ability to access confined spaces. The work involves the application of knowledge gained through education and experience. This position is considered essential and may be subject to report for emergencies including holiday and weekends as well as participation in the twenty-four (24) hour on-call rotating schedule. Work is performed under general direction of the Director of Environmental Services.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Comprehensive knowledge in maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in an industrial environment; extensive knowledge of the principle measures, symbols, materials, components, tools and instruments of the trade; ability to lead a team effectively; ; ability to supervise and participate in the operation and maintenance of the systems; excellent knowledge of current methods, terminology, equipment, tools, and materials utilized in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a wastewater treatment plant and pump stations; extensive knowledge of managing a work order and asset management system; ability to procure in accordance with County policy and manage/track assets using a GIS based technology; ability to avoid occupational hazards and implement effective standard safety precautions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of other agencies, staff, department heads, elected officials and the general public.
