    Description

    The Painter is responsible for performing skilled painting work in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of healthcare facility buildings, ensuring a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role requires the ability to work independently during evening and weekend hours with minimal supervision.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Prepare surfaces for painting, including patching, sanding, and priming walls, ceilings, doors, and trim.
    • Apply paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes to various surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; ensure proper signage and containment of work areas to minimize disruption in patient care areas.
    • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to complete painting projects efficiently and with minimal impact on operations.
    • Follow infection prevention protocols and comply with hospital safety and regulatory guidelines.
    • Maintain inventory of painting supplies and materials and notify supervisor of needed replacements.
    • Respond to urgent painting or repair requests as needed during assigned shifts.
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed and time spent on tasks.
     

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial or institutional painting, preferably in a healthcare environment.
    • Knowledge of proper surface preparation, application techniques, and safety protocols.
    • Ability to read work orders and follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Must be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various physical positions.
    • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with flexibility for occasional additional hours as needed.
    • Understanding of infection control and safety standards in healthcare settings is preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of minor drywall or plaster repairs is a plus.
     

    Working Conditions:

    • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
    • Exposure to paints, solvents, and other chemicals (PPE provided).
