OPEN UNTIL FILLED
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect exterior and interior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and structures throughout the district
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification
High School Diploma or GED - preferred
Licensure
Clear and valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in painting trade
Ability to properly apply paints/ Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, enamel, and other finishes.
Considerable knowledge of safety standards/precautions which pertain to painting
Knowledge of and ability to mix paint to match colors
Ability to estimate materials and time required to complete various tasks.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to work cooperatively with others.
Ability to work independently
Work Conditions
Tools/Equipment Used: Painting and drywall tools and equipment including brush, roller, spray equipment sand and water blaster; small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; light truck or van
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel; maintain emotional control under stress
Minimum Experience
3 years experience in painting field- preferred
