The Maintenance Mechanic I repairs and maintains plant machinery, equipment, structures, tools and facilities as needed to meet production needs in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three to five years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- High level of safety and quality.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work outdoors in all seasons, climb stairs and ladders, work from elevated platforms, and use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.).
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Understanding of the purpose and function of basic mechanical tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pneumatic and power tools, pry bars, impact tools, pliers, etc.).
- Basic computer skills (entering work hours, work orders, parts usage, etc.).
- Knowledge of Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) preferred.
- Ability to comply with all corporate policies and MSHA regulations.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Man lift and scissor lift experience preferred.
- Computer software experience preferred.
- Warehouse experience preferred.
- Possess an excellent safety record.
- Consistently at work and on time.
- Ability to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Ability to work varying shifts.
- Ability to work on-call as required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Gather and analyze information skillfully and with alternate solutions in mind when necessary.
- Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Be a role model and advocate for safety among co-workers.
- Perform all tasks in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Perform general maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Complete routine paper and/or computer work (work orders, work hours, parts, etc.).
- Uses typical mechanic''s tools, equipment, and inspection gauges.
- Works from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches, and IFS work order systems.
- Uses shop math on a routine basis.
- Cleans debris and lubricant from parts, work area and equipment.
- Operates production equipment as required.
- Functions as mechanic''s helper when assigned to work with senior mechanics.
- Clean parts, tools and working area.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Work on-call as required.
- Additional duties as assigned.
