Maintenance Mechanic - Direct

Tasks include start-up and shut-down procedures, electrical troubleshooting, maintaining and operating boilers, welding and cutting, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and other systems. Must be able to perform the essential physical functions of the position, including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, andlifting upto 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Job Summary

Located in the vibrant city of Memphis - West, this role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment known for its rich cultural heritage and economic growth. The position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining large industrial textile processing equipment, as well as facility maintenance. Tasks include start-up and shut-down procedures, electrical troubleshooting, maintaining and operating boilers, welding and cutting, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and other systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide general oversight and responsibility for equipment and personnel within the assigned building.
• Promote efficiency in all aspects of the building, including uptime, labor hours, repairs, and PM completion, tracked and evaluated against enterprise and national benchmarks.
• Follow standard operating procedures and meet quality standards.
• Assist the Maintenance Manager with all plant maintenance operations, ensuring plant premises and equipment are kept in a safe and clean condition.
• Assist in building a maintenance program that optimizes plant uptime, considers costs, and satisfies all industry regulations and OSHA guidelines.
• Complete PMs, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild equipment, and document the work done without direct supervision.
• Monitor equipment and ensure it is kept in good working order. Work closely with management to repair or replace equipment as needed.
• Monitor boilers and associated equipment for proper operation.
• Assist outside contractors with repairing and installing machinery.
• Apply general plumbing and HVAC skills to maintain equipment and facility.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Maintain a neat and clean working area throughout the day.
• Operate forklift to unload and load trucks.
• Read electric diagrams.
• Be on time and have excellent attendance.
• Meet or exceed plant uptime goal of 98% and maintain building call response time of 2 minutes or less.
• Actively patrol assigned building to proactively address equipment issues.
• Report all major issues to Chief Engineer and Production Manager and assist with resolution.
• Establish and maintain a positive working relationship between building maintenance crew and production team.
• Complete tasks at 100% and follow all company safety rules.
• Work well with a diverse workforce and maintain a positive attitude.
• Be able to work past the schedule as issues may arise.
• This position may be physically demanding. Lifting and moving of objects heavier than 50 lbs can be expected regularly.
• The plant environment may be quite warm during certain times of the year. Ability to walk and stand for the entire shift is necessary.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience is required.
• Punctuality and reliability are a must.
• Honesty and exceptional work ethic.
• Ability to solve problems independently.
• High School diploma/GED equivalent required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired Skills

• Continual standing and walking during the shift.
• Continual reaching with hands/fingers/arms during the shift.
• Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, and crouching during the shift.
• Must be able to occasionally lift over 80 pounds.
• Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals.

Schedule

• 8-hour shift.
• Start time: 3am to 4am, depending on production needs.
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Pay based on experience.
