Job Description:Purpose of the job:
This position is responsible for managing maintenance staff, achieving results in areas of safety, preventative
maintenance, utilization of equipment, waste reduction, equipment improvement, facility upkeep, and
predictive maintenance. Also spare part inventories, maintenance shop and preventive
maintenance scheduling and capital projects
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
1. Manage Maintenance team to ensure facility goals and objectives are achieved: Communicate
facility goals and objectives to all maintenance team members, provide resources, and support by
holding bi-weekly crew meeting, monthly maintenance project meetings, also attending weekly
lead team meetings and daily production meetings to communicate goals and plant priorities.
2. Effectively manager preventative and predictive maintenance programs: Schedule and plan
preventative maintenance to include inspection and repair of equipment on a bi-weekly cycle.
Hold pre-planning meetings to include maintenance team and production team for planning and
priority setting for preventative maintenance tasks. Schedule predictive maintenance such as
vibration analysis and infrared scanning to detect potential equipment failures. Schedule advance
repairs to avoid costly equipment repairs and unexpected downtime.
3. Continuously improve all Maintenance team members: Ensure all maintenance team members
are trained in safety, environmental and all proficiencies on an annual basis. Provide annual
refresher training in all maintenance specific areas to include welding safety, radiation safety,
confined space entry, hot work, electrical safety, hoist and sling usage and chemical specific
training. Provide internal and external technical training for all Maintenance technicians to ensure
continuous improvement on all maintenance skill levels. Measure results through annual and bi-
annual evaluations of maintenance skills, peer and customer service feedback.
4. Manage equipment improvement and capital projects: Facilitate monthly meetings on equipment
improvement with Production Manager, Boundary Managers and Team Leaders from all areas of
the plant to set priorities and plan equipment improvements. Facilitate quarterly meetings on the
five-year capital plan with the Lead Team to set priorities for capital projects and provide
resources for getting information gathered and capital projects submitted for the current year.
5. Manage Maintenance Inventory Group and spare parts inventory area: Communicate plant
priorities and upcoming equipment rebuilds and projects to ensure proper stock levels on
necessary spare parts. Work with Maintenance inventory group to set proper inventory levels and
to ensure availability of critical spare parts.
6. Manage facility maintenance and maintenance of all support equipment: Collect bids on all
annual contracts and perform competitive bid analysis to ensure the facility gets quality
workmanship at a competitive price. Train all contractors on facility safety rules and procedures.
Schedule maintenance of all support equipment including all Saturday and Sunday maintenance work as needed.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:
1. BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
2. GPA 3.0 Bachelor’s Degree (out of 4.0)
3. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
4. Ability to work “Hands-On” in a manufacturing shop-floor environment.
5. Desire for Manufacturing Management.
6. Keen interest to excel as a manager in a performance driven environment.
7. Candidate must be flexible to shift work.
8. Candidate must be flexible regarding travel and relocation.
9. Candidate must have unlimited U.S. work eligibility.
