Essential Functions
  • Manage the maintenance team, including electricians and fabrication employees.
  • Oversee and supervise external workforce, consultants, and specialists.
  • Develop preventive maintenance programs for implementation on all equipment in the facility.
  • Ensure that production machines, supporting equipment, and facilities receive effective preventative maintenance and are prepared for safe and efficient operations.
  • Evaluate and address the training needs of the maintenance department.
  • Conduct follow-up verification inspections to ensure full and complete performance of preventative maintenance tasks and procedures.
  • Improve maintenance plans, methods, procedures, and instructions to enhance availability and safety of machines and facilities at the lowest possible cost.
  • Recommend methods for improving labor efficiency and reducing waste of materials.
  • Interact with other plants in the U.S. and Europe to transfer knowledge and technical solutions.
  • Understand, track, monitor, and report equipment status, including evaluating priorities and response needs.
  • Evaluate maintenance performance, including downtime, root cause, repair status, and corrective actions.
  • Champion the management of spare parts inventory, including reorder points and accuracy while adhering to budgetary requirements.
  • Initiate, technically define, and track purchase orders from development through project completion.
  • Develop and implement strategies to standardize machine components and support tooling standardization.
  • Manage manuals and documentation for all machinery.
  • Work with Finance to ensure effective use of organizational resources and provide tracking information as required.
  • Develop goals and objectives, and conduct performance and disciplinary counseling as needed.
  • Lead maintenance department in all 5S activities.
  • Lead capital expenditure projects from concept through full implementation, including design, quoting, and presentations to ensure maximum return on investment within budget.
  • Ensure safety standards are adhered to at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, IDEM, and other applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to problem solve, multitask, and resolve issues effectively.
  • Working understanding of tooling, fabrication, and design.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to utilize PC databases, schematics, preventative maintenance systems, and CAD software.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Experience
  • 5-7 years of successful maintenance supervision or management preferred.

Working Conditions
  • Regular use of hands to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, and reaching.
  • Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of 50+ pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work performed near moving mechanical parts and in areas with noise levels exceeding 85 dBA.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and low-intensity acidic, caustic, and petrochemical fumes.
