SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and reliability initiatives within a heavy industrial manufacturing operation in the Rockingham, North Carolina area. This is a key leadership role for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong electrical expertise, a passion for equipment reliability, and a proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams. The ideal candidate brings experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, with paper or packaging industry experience highly preferred. The Maintenance Manager will play an integral role in strengthening preventive and predictive maintenance programs, improving asset performance, developing maintenance talent, and driving continuous improvement across the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the facility's maintenance and reliability strategy, with a strong focus on safety, equipment performance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Build and reinforce a strong safety culture, ensuring safe work practices, policies, and accountability are consistently maintained throughout the maintenance organization.
- Lead, coach, and develop maintenance employees, creating a culture of engagement, accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
- Drive asset reliability initiatives that improve equipment availability, reduce unplanned downtime, and support production objectives.
- Strengthen and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to increase equipment reliability and long-term asset performance.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies to identify opportunities, eliminate waste, improve maintenance effectiveness, and support the facility's strategic objectives.
- Plan and execute major maintenance activities, including scheduled shutdowns, asset maintenance plans, and capital investment projects.
- Participate in annual planning and budget development while ensuring maintenance investments align with operational priorities and return-on-investment objectives.
- Establish, monitor, and improve maintenance KPIs, using performance data and analytics to identify trends, prioritize opportunities, and drive measurable improvements.
- Partner closely with Operations and other functional leaders to achieve goals related to production capacity, operating costs, quality, employee engagement, reliability, and health and safety.
- Ensure maintenance processes and activities are executed in accordance with established business standards, procedures, and best practices.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience leading maintenance teams within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Paper, pulp, converting, or packaging industry experience highly preferred.
- Strong electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical expertise.
- Demonstrated success improving equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and overall maintenance performance.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, motivate, and engage maintenance teams.
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning, asset management, reliability principles, and continuous improvement.
- Experience operating successfully in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated data-driven approach to maintenance management, including KPI development, performance reporting, analytics, and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Excel and Power BI.
- Experience with SAP maintenance and asset management systems preferred.
