Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and coordinating all maintenance activities within the food production facility to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment and infrastructure. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement while supporting food safety, quality, and production goals.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Leadership & Operations

• Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all production, packaging, utilities, and facility equipment
• Lead, train, and supervise maintenance technicians to ensure high performance and safe work practices
• Prioritize work orders to minimize downtime while supporting production schedules
• Manage emergency repairs and troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

Food Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety standards (GMPs, HACCP, BRC/SQF/FSSC, FDA, USDA, OSHA)
• Maintain sanitary design standards and support allergen control and sanitation programs
• Participate in internal and external audits and address corrective actions related to maintenance

Equipment Reliability & Continuous Improvement

• Drive equipment reliability initiatives and root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues
• Improve machine uptime, OEE, and maintenance efficiency through best practices and continuous improvement
• Support capital projects, equipment installations, and process improvements

Planning, Budgeting & Inventory

• Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including labor, parts, and outside services
• Control maintenance inventory, critical spare parts, and vendor relationships
• Track maintenance KPIs such as downtime, PM compliance, and maintenance costs

Safety & Training

• Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements
• Ensure proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and equipment safety standards
• Identify training needs and ensure technicians are properly trained and certified

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of maintenance experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment
• 2+ years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, GMPs, and sanitation requirements
• Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and control systems

Preferred

• Experience with high-speed manufacturing or packaging lines
• Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and automation systems
• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or similar certification
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement training
