About the Position
The Maintenance/Grounds Manager oversees the daily operations, maintenance, safety, and upkeep of the Addie McBryde Rehabilitation Center, located on the campus of the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). This position ensures that the facility, grounds, equipment, and vehicles are properly maintained and remain safe, functional, and accessible for clients, employees, and visitors. The Manager serves as the Center's primary liaison with the UMMC Physical Facilities and Maintenance Division and coordinates facility-related services, repairs, construction, and improvement projects. The position also assists with monitoring the Center's budget, processes purchases through MAGIC, oversees contracts and fleet maintenance, and supervises assigned maintenance, support, and contracted janitorial staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to: • Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, repair, safety, and general upkeep of the Center, grounds, courtyard, equipment, and related facilities. • Serve as the primary liaison between the Addie McBryde Rehabilitation Center and the UMMC Physical Facilities and Maintenance Division. • Receive, evaluate, and coordinate requests for building maintenance, repairs, custodial services, and other facility-related needs. • Monitor the completion of maintenance requests and follow up with the appropriate departments, vendors, or contractors to ensure that issues are resolved promptly. • Coordinate construction, renovation, repair, and facility-improvement projects while minimizing disruptions to client services and Center operations. • Assist with developing, monitoring, and tracking the Center's operational, maintenance, and facility-related budget. • Initiate and process purchases in MAGIC for supplies, equipment, materials, and services needed by the Center, including purchases supporting clients and instructional areas. • Maintain accurate purchasing, budget, contract, inventory, maintenance, and project documentation. • Coordinate contract procurement and assist with developing specifications, obtaining required approvals, monitoring vendor performance, and ensuring compliance with applicable purchasing and contracting requirements. • Oversee the performance of contracted janitorial services and communicate service concerns or deficiencies to the appropriate contractor or agency representative. • Supervise assigned maintenance and support staff, including assigning and monitoring work, providing guidance, managing schedules, and ensuring that duties are completed accurately and timely. • Complete Performance Review Assessments (PRAs) for assigned employees as directed by the Center Director. • Oversee the maintenance and operational readiness of the Center's vehicle fleet, including coordinating preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, recordkeeping, and other fleet-related requirements. • Monitor facility conditions and address potential safety, accessibility, security, or operational concerns. • Assist with emergency preparedness and coordinate appropriate responses to facility-related emergencies or service interruptions. • Ensure that facility operations comply with applicable agency policies, safety standards, accessibility requirements, purchasing procedures, and regulatory requirements. • Communicate regularly with the Center Director regarding maintenance concerns, purchasing needs, contracts, projects, budget matters, staffing issues, and other operational needs. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What youll need to be Successful
The successful candidate should possess strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. The position requires the ability to manage multiple operational priorities, coordinate effectively with internal departments and outside contractors, maintain accurate purchasing and budget records, and respond promptly to facility needs. Knowledge of building maintenance, grounds operations, contract administration, procurement, fleet management, workplace safety, and employee supervision is highly desirable. The incumbent must also demonstrate sound judgment, attention to detail, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, accessible, and professional environment for clients, employees, and visitors.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires 4-6 years of semi-skilled work experience. Hiring agency prefers: A high school diploma and 4-6 years of experience in facility operations, building maintenance, purchasing, contract administration, fleet management, or a related area are preferred.
