    Job Description:

    We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Foreman to join our team. The ideal candidate will have mid-level experience in maintenance and repair work on water and sewer utilities, as well as strong leadership and communication skills. The Maintenance Foreman will be responsible for overseeing a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating daily schedules, and ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner by working with the crew.

    This position will be assigned to the City of Aberdeen Maintenance Shop on Aberdeen Proving Ground and will require a Tier 1 level Background Check, in addition to the standard pre-employment background check.

    This position requires the applicant to have and maintain a CDL - Class B.

    Applicants that are not MDE certified will be considered if other requirements are met.

    Upon hiring, the applicant will be required to apply for MDE Temporary D-1 & C-2 certifications, and within one year of their employment date pass one (1) state certification exam. The second state certification exam must be acquired within the first three years of employment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance crews
    • Inspect and maintain equipment, machinery, and facilities
    • Order and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
    • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
    • Train and mentor maintenance staff
    • Communicate with management and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities
    • Prepare and maintain maintenance records and reports
    • Operates light and medium-sized construction and power equipment

    Requirements:

    • MDE Collection 2 and Distribution 1 Certifications with set guidelines
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance and repair work in utilities, asphalt, and concrete work
    • Proven leadership and supervisory skills
    • Strong knowledge of Water and Sewer Utility systems
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
    • Proficient in computer applications and maintenance software, GIS, Microsoft Suite
    • Valid CDL required.
