    Description

    The School District of Jefferson is seeking a dedicated, skilled, and detail-oriented individual to serve as our Buildings and Grounds Assistant.

    The Buildings and Grounds Assistant shall keep the District building systems in a state of operating excellence in order to provide a safe, clean, attractive, comfortable, and efficient place to learn, play, work, develop, and teach. It is an expectation that the person in this position will assist the Buildings and Grounds Director to conduct frequent inspections of each building in the district and share findings with Building Administrators and Superintendent. The ideal candidate shall possess a general understanding of building systems including heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical, fixtures and structures, grounds equipment, and athletic field preparation. Must be able to identify and respond to building system problems.

    Terms:

    Full-time, year-round position.

    Location and hours:

    District Wide, 5:00 am - 1:00 pm. Hours may vary, flexibility is a must.

    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Performing maintenance on the building systems.
    • Performing maintenance on grounds systems.
    • Performing field marking and athletic field preparation.
    • Assisting the Buildings and Grounds Director/Superintendent to develop a long-range maintenance program with continuous preventative maintenance.
    • Assisting the Buildings and Grounds Director in cooperation with the Administrative Team to provide adequate Custodial I & II personnel when needed at buildings.
    • Performing preventive maintenance and repairs on district grounds, vehicles, and equipment.
    • Being the second person in line to respond to maintenance-related emergencies during off-duty hours.
    • Assisting and being in-serviced when outside contracted services are necessary.
    • Snow and ice removal on district walks, parking lots, and playgrounds.
    • Assisting, at the direction of the Superintendent, in remediation of any deficiencies noted during inspection tours by the Department of Workforce Development (DWD), district insurance carrier, or any other applicable agency.
    • Assisting Buildings and Grounds Director/Superintendent in preparing district maintenance and project budgets and monitoring them for accuracy and remaining within budget allocations.
    • Assisting the Buildings and Grounds Director, in cooperation with the Director of Business Services, prepare specifications for contracts and bids for supplies and equipment.
    • Maintaining district equipment, logs, and inventory.
    • Performing any other duties that may be assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Director/ Superintendent.
