Mainframe Support Analyst
Location: Columbia, SC
Contract: W2 only, 6 month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time with either the client or CEI
Pay: $45-$50 /hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match
 
Overview
Provide day-to-day support for application development teams utilizing mainframe development tools and utilities. Assist developers with troubleshooting development, testing, and implementation issues. Support code promotion, testing, and deployment activities. Partner with customers to identify process improvements and development efficiencies. Participate in modernization initiatives focused on improving developer productivity.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support for application development teams utilizing mainframe development tools and utilities.
• Assist developers with troubleshooting development, testing, and implementation issues.
• Support code promotion, testing, and deployment activities.
• Partner with customers to identify process improvements and development efficiencies.
• Participate in modernization initiatives focused on improving developer productivity.
• Assist in maintaining development support documentation, standards, and procedures.
• Support application-level security administration and access requests as needed.
• Participate in vendor tooling initiatives, upgrades, and support activities.
• Assist with Disaster Recovery exercises and business continuity activities.

 
Required Skills

• JCL
• Security Reporting (using SORT/SyncSort)
• Query skills (DB2/SQL/IMS)
• Strong troubleshooting and support skills in mainframe environments
• Ability to translate technical issues into business impact and future needs
• Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and business demands

 
Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree, or
• 4 years of job-related work experience or 2 years of job-related experience plus an associate’s degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree
• Preferred Skills
• Source Control (GitHub, Endevor, IBM DBB, ChangeMan)
• FreezeFrame or DumpMaster
• COBOL programming
