Job Summary: (Mainframe CICS Administrator Backup & Recovery Specialist)
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe CICS Administrator with a strong background in backup and recovery processes. With over 7 years of expertise in Mainframe CICS Administration, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing backup schedules, ensuring data integrity, and providing robust support for restoration and storage catalog management. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in z/OS systems and have hands-on experience with DASD and tape allocation, serving as a key contributor in maintaining our mainframe environment's reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

• Backup Operations:
  • Execute scheduled backups for all files, including z/OS system data, master, and user catalogs using the Buyer's backup tools.
  • Monitor backup job completions to ensure successful execution.
  • Regularly schedule and perform restore tests to validate backup data integrity.
  • Maintain and enhance the z/OS backup processes, identifying improvements to optimize performance.
  • Update Mainframe Backup and Recovery documentation whenever changes occur within the backup system.
• Storage & Catalog Management:
  • Manage and configure storage parameters, including administering Client routines.
  • Define storage tiering strategies based on customer requirements.
  • Perform comprehensive storage catalog management, ensuring data is systematically organized.
  • Provide DASD and tape allocation support to meet storage demands.
• Collaboration & Documentation:
  • Coordinate with application and business teams to adjust retention periods and ensure alignment with business requirements.
  • Offer support for restoration of datasets, addition of new volumes, and increasing scratch tape counts when needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in Mainframe CICS Administration.
• Proven ability to perform scheduled backups of z/OS system data, master, and user catalogs.
• Strong expertise in maintaining and enhancing the z/OS backup process.
• Hands-on experience updating Mainframe Backup and Recovery documentation to reflect system changes.
• Demonstrated skills in storage catalog management and providing DASD/tape allocation support.
• Experience in administering and configuring storage parameters, including Client routine management.
• Ability to support and execute restoration of datasets, manage new volume additions, and adjust scratch tape counts as required.
