    Introduction

    Join our team as a Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer, where you will be responsible for building and operating IT hardware and software resources in on-prem, cloud, or hybrid scenarios to support internal customer needs. This role involves a wide variety of activities that operationalize cross-functional teams, including capacity planning, resource optimization, and maintaining mainframe systems.

    Required Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience with Mainframe Systems
    • Proficiency in Z/OS
    • 10 years in IT; 8 years in development
    • Senior Engineer experience: Practical in 2 coding languages or advanced practical in 1 language
    • Prior work experience at client or in the client's industry
    • Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Eight or more years of System Programming experience, including dump analysis, SMP/E, SMF, USS, Omegamon, MVS, and JES exits
    • Working knowledge of z/Operating System internals in JES2 or JES3 environments
    • Experience in planning, customizing, testing, and supporting Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products (e.g., CA Technologies, BMC, SAS, IBM)
    • Proficient with Client Word and Excel; experience with Access, PowerPoint, and Client Project for project administration is highly desirable
    • Working knowledge of ISPF, TSO, JCL, and IBM utilities is essential

    Day-to-Day Responsibilities

    • Design, operate, and maintain enterprise servers, including specialty mainframe systems like IBM/LPARS
    • Research, design, implement, and maintain complex infrastructure solutions for internal customer needs
    • Design and configure secure virtualized environments aligned with enterprise architecture blueprints
    • Utilize existing tools or assist in engineering custom monitoring solutions to ensure systems are configured correctly and remain secure
    • Monitor and review resources like CPU, memory, storage, and network traffic to ensure effective utilization
    • Resolve bottlenecks and plan for future capacity needs based on resource usage trends
    • Provide system-programming support for the installation and upgrade of mainframe hardware configurations
    • Provide customer support by addressing Software/Hardware related trouble tickets providing levels 1, 2, and 3 support
