Akkodis is seeking a Mainframe Engineer for a Contract with a client in Dearborn, MI (Hybrid). The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and enhancing mainframe infrastructure while ensuring system reliability, capacity management, security, and disaster recovery readiness.
Rate Range: $55/Hour to $65/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Mainframe Engineer Job Responsibilities include:
Install, configure, maintain, and support z/OS mainframe systems, ensuring high availability, stability, and performance.
Perform system programming activities, including software installation, upgrades, customization, testing, and implementation of ISV products.
Monitor system resources, analyze performance trends, troubleshooting issues, and resolve complex software and hardware problems.
Develop and support Assembler, REXX, CLIST, and related system-level code for mainframe enhancements, exits, and automation.
Provide support for Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution, ensuring business continuity and operational resilience.
Collaborate with vendors, infrastructure teams, and customers to resolve incidents, manage upgrades, and deliver Level 1, 2, and 3 technical support.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).
10+ years of IT experience, including 8+ years in development and/or mainframe systems programming environments.
Strong hands-on experience with z/OS mainframe systems, including system programming, software installation/upgrades, performance tuning, and problem resolution.
Proficiency in Assembler, REXX, JCL, ISPF/TSO, and mainframe utilities, with experience supporting disaster recovery, security (RACF), and enterprise infrastructure operations.

Pay Details: $55.00 to $65.00 per hour
