Mainframe DB2 DBA Lead

Overview:

We are Seeking an experienced Mainframe Database Lead to support and guide enterprise DB2 environments running on IBM z/OS platforms. This role will drive database reliability, performance, recovery readiness, platform upgrades, and operational excellence across critical production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead administration and support of DB2 databases on z/OS.
• Manage performance tuning, SQL optimization, and capacity planning activities.
• Design and review database structures, indexing strategies, and storage configurations.
• Oversee backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
• Drive DB2 upgrades, migrations, and maintenance initiatives.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide technical leadership during critical incidents.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, storage, and application teams.
• Define standards, best practices, and operational procedures for database management.
• Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical guidance on strategic database initiatives.

Required Skills

• Extensive experience with DB2 for z/OS administration.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and JES2.
• Expertise in SQL tuning, performance analysis, and DB2 utilities.
• Experience with backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.
• Knowledge of database security, access controls, and compliance requirements.
• Proven experience leading DB2 upgrade, migration, and modernization projects.
