    Introduction

    We are seeking a highly experienced developer to support and enhance a mission-critical legacy application written in IBM z/OS assembler language. This role requires a self-sufficient engineer capable of independently analyzing, maintaining, and improving high-volume, high-availability batch processing systems in a regulated financial services environment.

    Required Skills & Qualifications

    • 8 years of experience in IBM Mainframe application development and production support
    • Strong hands-on expertise in Assembler (HLASM) programming
    • JCL development and troubleshooting
    • Experience with GDGs and batch processing
    • Proven experience with Connect:Direct (NDM), ISPW (or equivalent change management tools), CA7 scheduling, TSO / ISPF environment, and GitHub CoPilot
    • Demonstrated experience supporting high-volume financial transaction systems
    • Experience working in high-availability environments, including Sysplex architectures and multiple LPARs
    • Solid understanding of mainframe datasets, VSAM, and utilities
    • Experience using ServiceNow and/or Remedy
    • Proven ability to work independently in loosely documented legacy environments and analyze complex assembler codebases
    • Diagnose and resolve critical production issues quickly
    • Prior work experience at client or in client's Industry
    • Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience in financial services or banking environments
    • Prior experience with check processing, image item processing, or payment processing platforms
    • Demonstrated experience supporting high-volume, high-throughput transaction systems
    • Familiarity with SMP/E for system maintenance and upgrades and SAR (System Activity Reporter / reporting tools)
    • Experience supporting assembler applications during platform upgrades and macro or compatibility changes

    Day-to-Day Responsibilities

    • Support and enhance mission-critical legacy applications
    • Independently analyze, maintain, and improve high-volume, high-availability batch processing systems
    • Diagnose and resolve critical production issues quickly
