DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT:

The Brandon School District is a mid-size school district nestled in Northwest Oakland County. The district has approximately 1,000 students in junior kindergarten-5th grade between the two elementary schools, approximately 600 at the middle school level and approximately 850 at the high school. This small, tight knit community has a strong connection to its schools and is passionate about the education of its youth. Brandon High School sends 85-90% of its graduates to post-secondary school each year, it was ranked in the 82nd percentile of all schools in the State on the top-to-bottom rankings and it was awarded as a Silver Medal Winner by the US News. Our elementary schools are both one-to-one technology are each near the 83rd percentile in State rankings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma

  • Experience in business and office procedures, including Google and Microsoft applications

  • 3+ years of experience in an office setting preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of computer application and spreadsheets

  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills

  • Work effectively with minimal supervision and under pressure

  • Highly organized and able to prioritize workload, along with strong problem solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationship with staff

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as receptionist and maintain the appropriate decorum for the office

  • Assist faculty members as appropriate

  • Back-up for assigning substitute teachers each morning and reconcile daily AESOP report

  • Distribution of medications to students

  • Assign keys to staff members for their rooms and cabinets

  • Maintain appropriate student records for attendance and discipline as directed

  • Prepare student work permits

  • Type and assemble student handbooks

  • Assemble and distribute opening day packet for teachers

  • Scheduling for the Assistant Principal including teacher evaluations

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the student attendance policy

  • Manage the Attendance Office

  • Distribute and collect attendance sheets from teachers

  • Receive telephone calls from parents reporting absences and checkouts for the day

  • Assist in preparation of building Count Day

  • Prepare monthly reports for Student Services

  • Assist in the preparation of social welfare forms

  • Process student lists and/or labels as needed for staff

  • Process student immunization records through MCIR

  • Work with BGYA for student referrals

  • Assist with student attendance tracking including truancy

  • Compile information from teachers and support staff for ordering supplies

  • Check in and store supplies

  • Assist with various reports including the OCR Report

  • Maintain various schedules including teacher conference hours, lunch schedules and phone lists

  • Assist other secretarial staff as needed

  • Other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

WORKDAY/WEEK: Per Building Schedule and BESPA Calendar

COMPENSATION: Per BESPA Master Agreement
