Machinist Supervisor

This role supports the company's manufacturing operations, machining a variety of finished and semi-finished components, tooling, and fixtures using traditional manual equipment. The Manual Machinist is responsible for operating manual lathes, mills, and drill presses to produce precise, high-quality parts in a team-oriented shop environment.

A global provider of pipeline isolation, hot tapping, and plugging services to the energy industry is seeking a Machinist Supervisor to join the team. This role supports the company's manufacturing operations, machining a variety of finished and semi-finished components, tooling, and fixtures using traditional manual equipment. The Manual Machinist is responsible for operating manual lathes, mills, and drill presses to produce precise, high-quality parts in a team-oriented shop environment.

Responsibilities:

• Work from specifications, drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions to perform machining operations.
• Perform standard shop calculations related to dimensions, tooling, and part geometry.
• Use a wide range of precision measuring instruments to maintain accurate dimensional tolerances.
• Follow company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain knowledge of all applicable safety protocols and requirements.
• Work collaboratively in a team-oriented production environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Machinist Lead and Operations Manager.
• Comply with the company's quality, safety, and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
• Immediately report all accidents, incidents, near misses, or hazards to a manager or foreman and complete the required documentation.
• Extensive hands-on experience with CNC machining and programming, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Strong working knowledge of CNC mills and CNC lathes, including multi-axis machining and tooling applications.
• Proven experience programming and editing G-code/M-code at the machine and/or offline programming level.
• Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings, GD&T, blueprints, and machining specifications.
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, speeds and feeds, tool offsets, probing, and setup procedures.

Requirements:

• 5-10 years of experience setting up and operating manual machining equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical principles and processes
• Problem-solving skills; able to identify issues, analyze data, and contribute to group solutions
• Solid understanding of safety procedures and best practices
• Focus on quality; attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Adaptable and flexible; willing to work within changing priorities
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production documents (such as routers/travelers)
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Strong organizational skills
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude
• Should have, or be willing to obtain, standard personal tools required for the role
