PeopleReady Skilled Trades is currently seeking an experienced Conventional Machinist to join a precision repair and machining operation. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential for candidates who demonstrate strong attendance, performance, and craftsmanship.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating and setting up manual lathes, mills, and related shop equipment to machine, repair, and restore critical industrial components to precise specifications. This position is well suited for machinists who enjoy repair work, custom fabrication, and one-off machining projects rather than repetitive production manufacturing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and related conventional machining equipment
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, dimensions, and tolerances
Determine machining operations, tooling requirements, speeds, and feeds
Perform roughing and finishing operations to required specifications
Verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and dial indicators
Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust setups as necessary
Perform repair machining and fabrication of custom or one-off components
Collaborate with team members on complex repairs and projects
Assist with equipment maintenance and general shop duties as needed
Maintain quality, safety, and production standards
SCHEDULE:
Candidates must be willing to work 10–12 hour shifts, up to 7 days per week
1st Shift:
Start Time: 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM
10–12 hour shifts
Up to 7 days per week
Potential 2nd Shift (Coming Soon):
Start Time: 4:00 PM
10–12 hour shifts
Up to 7 days per week
2+ years experience operating and setting up manual lathes, mills, and conventional machining equipment
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, materials, speeds and feeds, and surface finishes
Experience with repair machining, fitting, and custom fabrication is highly preferred
Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production shop environment
Vocational training, apprenticeship, or machining certifications are a plus
