Position Overview:

International has a great opportunity for experienced 2nd Shift Machinists in our Huntsville Facility to support high volume production through the operation of CNC and PLC controlled machinery to produce precision, high quality components.

The Powertrain Manufacturing Plant in Huntsville is a technologically advanced powertrain manufacturing facility that produces high-quality diesel engines and transmissions.

These are full time positions with consistent hours, competitive pay, and growth opportunities.

Ideal candidates have experience in automation, or CNC machine operation, and excel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What We Offer:
• $30.65/hour for at least 1 year of machining experience, + 6% 2nd shift differential

• $2,500 sign on bonus (50% upon hire and 50% after 90 days of employment)

Schedule:
• 2nd Shift | Monday – Friday
• 7:30 PM – 6:00 AM

Responsibilities:
  • Works within the Production & Logistics (P&L) Way, reads and follows verbal and standard written work instructions (SWI), position standards, and standard operating procedures.  
  • Strengthens knowledge and ability associated with P&L Way attitudes & behaviors, core values, and excellent attendance.  
  • Practices safe work behavior, including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adherence to safety guidelines. Identifies and corrects or escalates potentially unsafe situations/conditions.  
  • Complies with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements; reports hazards, environmental risks, and incidents, uses required PPE; operates equipment safety, and helps maintain a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.  
  • Demonstrates growing proficiency of a 100% mindset and takes ownership and responsibility of position/station.    
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of the department’s core processes and can execute assigned tasks with appropriate guidance, following established procedures and documentation.  
  • Meets the required competency or certification standards for workstations, areas and processes per the department skills matrix.  
  • Executes standard work within takt and uses Andon with basic proficiency, exhibiting the courage to speak up, identify deviations, and initiate communication without hesitation. Exhibits the “Right from me” behavior.  
  • Basic understanding of continuous improvement and problem-solving methods.    
  • Active participant with 5S standards, good organization of workspace, and housekeeping.  
  • Active participant in learning safety methods and Normal Situation.  
  • Performs routine inspections on products, processes, and materials to ensure work output meets product specifications.  
  • Keeps Team Lead and Supervisor informed of any issues or challenges.
  • Documents rework and scrap in accordance with nonconforming material procedures.
  • Monitors tool wear and performs tooling changes as required.
  • Verifies compliance with process instructions and control plans; escalates deviations to Team Lead.
  • Records defect data in systems accurately and timely.
  • Confirms gage calibration requirements for engine components.
  • Proactively assesses equipment condition to anticipate and resolve potential production issues.
  • Monitors special characteristics to ensure control plan compliance.
  • Uses computer systems to analyze and interpret production data.
  • Monitors system outputs to ensure processes are operating within control plan parameters.
  • Responds to machine faults and implements corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoots operational issues and performs on-the-spot repairs as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least 1 year of Machining Experience

OR

  • Machining Professional Degree from an accredited institution
Additional Requirements:
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.   • Physical requirements (ability to the following for up to 10 hours per shift): 
  • Walk, sit, stand 
  • Lift, carry, push or pull up to 20 pounds 
  • Head/neck movement 
  • Reach outward or above the shoulder  
  • Exposure to constant and intermittent noise, fumes, smoke and gases, solvents, paint, grease and oils, radiant energy, and slippery surfaces
  • Ability to work different shifts and overtime as needed
  • Basic computer skills  
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written work instructions.
  • Ability to complete and maintain required safety, quality, and workstation training/certification 
Desired Skills:
  • Technical College certificate in Machine Tool Technology or related discipline
  • Experience working in a high-performance team environment  
  • Experience in metal cutting machining, reading manufacturing drawings including GD&T and/or operating production machinery
  • Demonstrates a consistent team mind set and positive attitude
  • Ability to self-manage work priorities  
  • Executes initiative and effective problem solving.
  • Communicates clearly to ensure expected results
  • Customer focused and drives for results
  • Basic computer skills
