Location East Chicago INCleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Machinist at our East Chicago Indiana operation.The ideal candidate is safety-focused quality-driven and experienced in producing precision parts to print while supporting on-time delivery and continuous improvement.The role will be part of our United Steelworkers USW union compensation benefits and pension agreement.Summary of ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC andor manual machines mills lathes grinders etc. to produce parts per specifications.Interpret engineering drawings GD&T and work instructions.Fit and assemble machined parts and dismantle mill maintenance equipment.Operate pendant remote crane and lift truck as necessary.Performs any layout work of parts as required.Calculates and determines dimensions tapers indices and other data using shop formulas and handbooks.Measure and inspect parts using precision instruments calipers micrometers height gauges indicators.Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean organized work area.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications4 years of proven machinist experience in a job shop or high-mixlow-volume manufacturing environment.Ability to read blueprints.Have earned a high school diploma GED or equivalency from an accredited institution.Be able to work full-time including rotating shifts and weekends.Must passrequired testing.Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisPreferred QualificationsHave a machinist certificate or card.Strong measurement skills GD&T.Experience with CNC controls Haas Mazak.Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
