Description
CNC Machinists set up, adjust and operate a variety of NC/CNC controlled lathes or machining centers to perform turning, boring, threading, contouring, milling, drilling, tapping, reaming and angle and taper cuts to close tolerances and finish requirements.
Work from routings, process sheets and blueprints. CNC Machinists use a variety of precision instruments to set-up and inspect work.
CNC Machinists assist in establishing program requirements. Make machine adjustments to correct deviations from program specifications. Note and report program problems. Make adjustments to program where applicable.
May recommend tooling arrangement, fixtures, operational sequences. Mount and secure tooling, align and secure fixtures, platens and work pieces. Help make set-up & instruct new or less qualified operators. CNC Machinists may run secondary machine or auxiliary operations when applicable.
Requirements
Experience with Fanuc controls preferred.
Solid knowledge of machine shop & CNC techniques.
Two + years CNC turning experience.
Solid background in shop math and blueprint reading.
Experienced in use of hoists and cranes.
Personal tools & willingness to buy tools as needed.
Experience on large diameter vertical lathes helpful.
Ability to lift up to 38 lbs.
